In this course, students acquire in-depth specialist knowledge in the core areas of Computer Science. These include databases, programming, mathematics, the architecture of computers and computer networks, and system programming. Compared with other faculties in Germany, the Faculty of Computer Science in Magdeburg offers an above-average proportion of practical and application-oriented subjects.
The course conveys fundamental, application-based specialist knowledge of electrical engineering and information technology. After studying the basics of engineering, specialist knowledge is consolidated according to the chosen specialization.
Students obtain solid knowledge of psychological principles and fundamental specialist knowledge in the applied disciplines of psychology, in order, on the one hand, to acquire the general and specialist skills required for their working lives and, on the other hand, to enable them to complete a further professional qualification in the form of a Master’s degree.
The objective of the study program is to enable students to recognize problems independently, to solve these problems self-sufficiently with an economic foundation, and to deduce action alternatives based on these solutions.
The focus is therefore on the philosophy of mind, neurophilosophy, philosophy of neuroscience, and cognitive science as well as the philosophy of science and applied ethics. By choosing different elective modules, a concentration on different neuroscientific fields is possible.
The specialist knowledge is taught in the field of sports equipment technology, materials in sports, performance diagnostics, measurement technology in sports, and sports informatics. For this purpose, modules from the fields of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and information technology, computer science, sports science and Cyber Security in Germany are attended.
Graduates are qualified for a scientifically oriented and research-oriented activity in the field of mechatronics; they can work on scientifically demanding tasks in their profession or a subsequent doctorate. The focus is on interdisciplinary engineering and scientific methods; their application will require solid mathematical and scientific basic and special knowledge.
Building on a relevant first professional qualification, the Master’s degree program imparts further knowledge in several sub-areas of mathematics within the framework of a broad range of compulsory electives and introduces students to current research in a specialization area.
